The End User Computer Specialist qualification aims to provide you with essential computer skills that will enable you to effectively and efficiently operate a computer in any environment. It is an entry level qualification, intended to provide a gateway for further learning in any field where the employee uses a computer in the execution of the daily duties.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Grade 9 or NQF Level 1

DURATION: 6 months (full time and part time)

ASSESSMENT: You will be required to build up a portfolio of evidence as proof that you can perform certain tasks in practice. The POE is used to compile evidence to prove your competence during moderation and verification by the Quality Assurance body being MICT SETA.

CERTIFICATION: This qualification has been designed to provide the student with a national certificate that is recognised  by industry for maximum employability. On completion the student will earn the following:

The purpose of this qualification is to build foundational entry into the field of systems development. A qualifying learner will be equipped with good fundamental knowledge and competencies in order to develop software applications in most IT environments as a junior programmer. The qualification combines both a national certificate qualification as well as the industry recognised vendor certification such as the CIW (Certified Internet Web Professional) Web Foundation Series.

A Computer Programmer or coder, is someone who writes computer software. They figure out the processes of designing, writing, testing, debugging/troubleshooting and maintaining the source code of computer programs. This source code is written in a programming language so the computer can ‘understand’ it.

A Network or Server Technician is a person who is responsible for setting up, maintaining  and troubleshooting computer hardware and software systems in support of business operations.

DURATION: 12  months (Full time & Part-time)

An IT Support/PC Technician is a person who repairs and maintains computers and servers. The technician’s responsibilities may extend to include building or configuring new hardware; installing and updating software packages; and creating and maintaining computer networks and supporting the end user.
